It's simple to add your own database to the Open Database Project. You begin by becoming a registered user of our sponsor, www.HostedDatabase.com. A special account with HostedDatabase.com is FREE of charge for publishing databases for the Open Database Project. To get your free account, you must select the "OpenDatabase.info" item from the "How did you hear about us?" pull-down list on the registration page. This allows us to identify you as a free account holder for use with the Open Database Project.

Once registered, you immediately can begin publishing data from your desktop PC using Microsoft Excel, Access, or any other software application that exports to plain-text ASCII, .csv files, or XML. You also can create new, empty databases into which people can enter new data. HostedDatabase.com, and the Open Database Project offers two types of databases: searchable and data entry. Using the HostedDatabase.com simple-to-use Web Database Publishing Wizard, you can get your data up live on the Web in 15 minutes or less without any programming or database knowledge. You can publish any number of databases, however the aggregate database space used must be less than 2.5MB.

Only databases that you mark as "public" are visible to the Open Database Project. Be sure to use a meaningful database name so the public can understand what your database contains, and provide a detailed database description that includes your contact information.
